2)  Announcement from Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development (CTD) - CTD is moving from the Glen Ellyn site to Naperville's North Central College.  Beginning September 29, Center for Talent Development, in collaboration with North Central College , is offering its eight-week Saturday Enrichment Programs in Naperville for academically talented children from age 4 through 9th grade.  Students will explore math, science, and humanities at a pace and in a setting compatible with their abilities.  CTD is very excited about the move and is hoping that many students from Oswego308 School District will participate in its programs.  Detailed information about individual classes can be found on their website, www.ctd.northwestern.edu/sep/, on August 1st.  For more information, visit www.ctd.northwestern.edu/sep/ or call 847-491-3782, extension 2.
 
3) Harry Potter Book Release Festivals happening on July 20th, Friday - There are 3 festivals happening in or near our area.
* Oswego Public Library, (630) 554-3150, http://www.oswego.lib.il.us/. From 1pm - 3pm, children ages 7 to 11 are invited to come and celebrate Hogwarts style with games, prizes, and Hogwarts treats!  Costumes are welcome.  Call the library for more information.
* Aurora Public Library, Eola Road Branch, (630) 264-3400, http://www.aurora.lib.il.us/.  From 6:30pm - 10:30pm, children ages 8 and older are invited to come and celebrate the release of the 7th Harry Potter book.  Children age 8 - 11 must be accompanied by a registered adult.  Activities for children and adults include games, trivia, costume parade, snacks, crafts, and movies: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (rated PG) and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (rated PG-13).  Registration ends July 15th.  Call the library for more information.

4) Youth for Understanding (YFU) asking for host families - YFU is a cultural/educational exchange program for high school students.  Five hundred students from 50 countries are scheduled to come into the Heartland district (Colorado, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota and Nebraska) this coming school year!  YFU is looking for host families to take students for year-long placement, semester placement, 90 day placement, or to be a welcome family (temporary host placement).  Host families can be families with children, families without children, singles, and seniors.  If you are interested, please contact Allison Boldridge at boldridge@comcast.net or 551-1857.  If you know anyone who might be interested, we would appreciate it if you can pass this along.  This is a great opportunity to learn a new language and culture and make new friends with a student from another country.
